What reviewers say
The Center for Pet Safety, a nonprofit that says it takes no funding from pet product makers, lists the Clickit Sport as passed testing with a 5 Star rating. Its record notes that the Medium, Large and X-Large harnesses were inspected for identical materials, stitching and hardware, so dogs up to 90 lbs in size M or L get the same protection as the XL, which is rated to 90 lbs. The Small is rated to 25 lbs. We did not test this harness ourselves.
Pros and cons
- Pro: Center for Pet Safety certified, 5 Star rating
- Pro: Connects to the car’s own seat belt
- Pro: Also works as a walking harness
- Con: Costs more than ordinary harnesses
- Con: Small size is rated only to 25 lbs
- Con: Vest is wipe clean, not machine washable per the brand’s care notes
Cautions
- Fit and attach it exactly as Sleepypod’s instruction manual says, in the back seat.
- Sleepypod says dogs under about 17 to 18 lbs tend to have more fragile bone structure; for small dogs a secured, crash-tested carrier may suit better.
- Check the CPS rating for your dog’s size and weight before you buy.
