The PetSafe Drinkwell 360 Stainless is a round stainless steel fountain that holds one gallon. Water flows from a central tower, and pets can drink from any side.
Who it suits
Homes with several cats, or cats and a small dog, that share one fountain. It is large and testers found it loud, so it suits a roomy spot away from bedrooms.

What reviewers say
Cats.com named it the best for multi-pet homes thanks to its capacity and access from all sides, but found it the hardest fountain to assemble, one of the loudest because the water falls the furthest, and bulky on the floor.
Wirecutter called the Drinkwell 360 a nightmare to assemble and found the plastic clasps holding the centerpiece not secure enough; it is not clear from its review whether it tested the plastic or stainless version. We did not test it ourselves.
Pros and cons
- Pro: Holds a gallon, per the maker
- Pro: Pets can drink from any side, so several can drink at once
- Pro: Fountain goes in the top rack of the dishwasher, per the maker
- Con: Hardest to assemble in both Cats.com’s and Wirecutter’s tests

- Con: Takes up a lot of floor space, about 14.3 by 14.3 inches (Cats.com)
Cautions
- Hand wash the pump; only the fountain goes in the dishwasher.
- Introduce a fountain gradually: International Cat Care suggests putting it out empty first, then adding water, then turning it on.
- Keep at least one ordinary water bowl out as well, in case your cat does not take to the fountain or the pump stops.
- If your cat starts drinking much more or less than usual, contact your vet.
