The PetSafe ScoopFree Crystal Smart is a low, rectangular self-cleaning litter box. A metal rake sweeps solid waste into a covered trap after each visit, while crystal litter in a disposable tray absorbs urine. When the tray is spent, you throw the whole tray away.
Who it suits
One or two cat homes that want no scooping and no litter handling, and cats that dislike enclosed or rotating boxes. It suits people who are fine buying the brand’s trays on a regular schedule.
Key facts
- Crystal litter only, in disposable trays changed about monthly (PetSafe)

What reviewers say
Tom’s Guide used it with two cats for about a month and found odor control good and the app handy for seeing when the box was used. The reviewer also had to scrape stuck poop off the rake several times and felt it was not something you can ignore for a whole month.
