Who it suits

Key facts

  • Thermostat warms the surface to your pet’s normal body temperature only when your pet lies on it (K&H)
  • Tested and certified by MET Labs to USA/Canada electrical safety standards, for the whole product (K&H)
  • Three sizes: 14 x 18 in (20 W), 19 x 24 in (40 W) and 25 x 36 in (60 W) (K&H)
  • For sheltered areas such as sheds, garages and barns, on 110/120 volt current only (K&H)

What reviewers say

Spots.com: Tested 18+ heated beds and pads with its own dogs and named this its best overall and best outdoor pick, liking the steel-wrapped cord and soft foam base. It found the bed may not get warm enough outdoors in very cold weather, that the vinyl absorbs odors and that there is no on/off switch, and it would not use it with a dog that chews its bed.

Rover: Listed it as the best heated bed for outdoor use, for a covered porch, garage or dog house, with room for the dog to move off the mat.

We did not test it ourselves.

Pros

  • Thermostat warms only where the pet lies
  • Whole product MET Labs certified, per K&H
  • Washable fleece cover included

Cons

  • Not for chewers; it has wires inside
  • No on/off switch
  • Spots.com found it may not be warm enough in very cold weather

Good to know

  • K&H says not to fold it, not to use an extension cord and to keep it out of direct rain and snow, per Spots.com’s notes from K&H.
  • Leave room in the shelter for your pet to move off the pad.
