What reviewers say
Treeline Review: Jae Thomas tested it with Miso, Dashi and other dogs for Treeline Review (updated January 2026) and named it best for snow: warm, light and packable, with stretch that let dogs run freely. It ran short in the rear on the long-bodied test dogs, the sleeves got wet in melting snow, and putting front paws through the sleeves was a hassle.
Business Insider: Elizabeth Holbrook tested it with Roo, a 40-pound rescue mix, and Roo’s friend Remy for Business Insider (updated October 2026) and named it best for belly coverage. It passed the soak test but took a few tries to zip on, and was snug on broad-chested Roo. Business Insider says it may receive products free from makers.
We did not test it ourselves.
Pros
- Full belly and chest coverage
- Stretch sleeves allow free movement
- Picked by two hands-on tests
Cons
- Fiddly to put on: paws go through sleeves
- Runs short in the rear on long dogs, per Treeline Review
- Both tests used the earlier, water-resistant version; Ruffwear now lists it as waterproof
Good to know
- Measure chest girth around the widest part of the rib cage; if your dog is broad-chested or between sizes, consider sizing up.
- Introduce a new coat gradually and positively, as Dogs Trust advises (https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/dog-advice/life-with-your-dog/seasonal/cold-weather-advice).
- If your dog shows signs of being too cold or too warm, adjust layers and ask your vet if it keeps happening.
