What reviewers say
Digital Camera World: Lauren Scott tested it for several weeks at home with her young Flatcoated Retriever (review December 2023) and still uses it; it is the top pick in Digital Camera World’s pet camera guide. She found the treat dispenser reliable and easy to fill and clean, night vision surprisingly good and setup under 10 minutes. Downsides: occasional audio lag, fuzzy picture at full zoom, a subscription to store video, and it can be toppled by boisterous pups, so wall mounting helps.
We did not test it ourselves.
Pros
- Treat dispenser worked reliably in Digital Camera World’s test
- Wide 160 degree view covers a medium room
- Can be wall mounted
Cons
- Fixed view; it does not turn to follow your pet
- Video storage and bark alerts need a Petcube Care plan
- Two-way audio can lag, per Digital Camera World
Good to know
- Digital Camera World reports Petcube recommends setting it at least 3 ft off the floor on a table or shelf (https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/reviews/petcube-bites-2-lite-review-the-top-dog-in-affordable-pet-cameras).
- A camera does not treat separation anxiety; if you see signs of distress, talk to your vet (https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/dogs/behaviour/separationrelatedbehaviour).
