What reviewers say

Cats.com: Katelynn Sobus built and tested the standard size with her own cats for Cats.com (updated July 2025), and called it the smallest pick on the list. She found it easy to assemble without tools and liked that the door drops down for cleaning and the large ventilation holes on each side. Some of the finish came off when she wiped it with a damp paper towel, and she found the door magnets should be stronger: the door fell open once while she was moving it.

We did not test it ourselves.

Pros

• Small enough to use as a side table, per Cats.com
• Assembles without tools
• Door drops down for cleaning

Cons

• Finish came off when wiped, per Cats.com
• Weak door magnets, per Cats.com
• Standard size may be tight for big cats; a jumbo size exists

Good to know

• International Cat Care says the ideal tray is one and a half times your cat’s length from nose to base of tail (https://icatcare.org/articles/choosing-a-litter-tray-for-your-cat). Measure your box before you buy.
• Check the door stays shut so it cannot swing onto your cat.
• If your cat stops using the box, strains or goes more often, see your vet (https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/cat-behavior-problems-house-soiling).
